FAQS

How Can We Help You?

ARE METAL ROOFS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN SHINGLES?

Yes. Metal roofs have a much longer lifespan than shingles, and can cost almost twice as much as a standard shingle roof.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STORM RIB AND STANDING SEAM METAL?

Storm rib metal is a 29 gauge metal that comes in 36 inch wide sheets and is fastened on the face of the sheet with screws using rubber gaskets to prevent leakage. Standing seam metal roofing is 26 gauge metal that comes in 16 inch wide sheets and uses a concealed fastener system. Standing seam metal is significantly more expensive than storm rib metal, but has a significantly longer lifespan.

DO SHINGLES NEED TO BE REMOVED TO INSTALL A NEW METAL ROOF?

Installing a new roof over shingles may be permitted by building codes, but we don't recommend it. Removing the old shingles allows us to inspect the roof deck to make sure there are no hidden issues that could cause problems in the future. The cost of removing the shingles is not significant, and we highly recommend it.

HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT A METAL ROOF TO LAST?

Storm rib metal roofs can last 20-30 years while standing seam roofs can easily last 60 years and with proper maintenance can last up to 100 years.
